Marietta is Senior Fellow at the Windfall Trust and a member of the Talos Policy Leaders Programme. Her work at Windfall focuses on improving governments’ AI economic preparedness through applied, actionable and evidence-based advice. In parallel, she is a non-resident senior advisor to the Arq Foundation where she spearheads Arq’s work on the interactions between AI safety and AI’s economic impacts.
Previously, Marietta worked at the UK’s Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade since 2019 where she represented the UK in technical high-level trade negotiations with three dozen countries, managed a strategy unit, and most recently led teams responsible for the international negotiation and mutual recognition of verification processes, standard-setting, and product safety regulations.
Before joining the UK Civil Service, Marietta was a senior manager for international economic policy at the German Federation of German Industries, and a Carlo Schmid Fellow and consultant at the UN.
Marietta is a member of the British Standards Institution’s committee on Artificial Intelligence, and a policy fellow at the Centre for Science and Policy at the University of Cambridge. She holds a PhD on international trade from the London School of Economics, a Masters and Bachelors Degree from the Graduate Institute in Geneva and an undergraduate degree from SOAS.
